3 Simple Steps To A Clutter Free Email Inbox - Right Order Concepts

email management, clutter, inbox, emails

Clutter is enough to drive a person insane.  It stipends productivity and drain you of your energy.  I have a serious disdain for clutter and try to steer clear of it as much as possible.  Inbox clutter included. I’ve been asked how do I respond to email messages so quickly (well the ones I want to respond to) :-).  I say it’s all in the way I manage my inbox.  I want to share with you how I keep my inbox clean and me more efficient.

Use Folders To Organize Emails

1. As with all my online organization techniques, I use folders to keep my inbox clean.  I live by my folder method.  Basically, you want to create a folder for each email you receive.  If it comes to your inbox then it needs a folder.  It’s as simple as that.

Combine Filters with Folders
To Automate Your Email Management

2. Once, you create folders you need to set up filters.  Filters are commands that filter information for you.  This way you don’t have the task of searching through emails to find what you need.  Create a filter that sends an email to a specific folder.

Unroll Those Pesty Subscriptions

3. Now that you have your folders and filters set up, go through each folder with one goal in mind; to keep or delete.  Keep all the emails in your folders you want to read later and delete the ones you don’t need to read.  Take it a step further by setting up an account with unroll me.  Unroll.me will identify all your subscription emails and provide the option to unsubscribe from the email lists you no longer wish to remain on.  Don’t unroll my subscription, though!  I’m not pesty.  🙂

So there you have it!  A clutter FREE, squeaky clean inbox.  Don’t forget to subscribe to this blog so you’re always in the loop.  Peace and enjoy your week!

I have another tip: for YEARS I was getting upwards of 800-1,000 spam emails a DAY on my domain email. Finally about 2 months ago, someone suggested I route my email through a dedicated gmail account, which I created. I called it inperfectorder.mail@gmail.com, but it could be anything you want as no one ever sees it and it is not used for any other purpose.

You kind of have to fiddle with the settings, but it only took about 15 minutes to set up (because I also set it up on my iphone and Outlook accounts) and since then, I don’t get more than 10 spam emails a WEEK, if that. What an enormous relief.

    Here’s a good tutorial: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370?hl=en

    thanks for your article.

I’ve got folders for the messages that I want to keep but I’m terrible at going through the things in my folders to see what I want to keep or want to throw. It’s just built up now and can’t be asked to go through it all. Also very guilty to subscripting to thousands of newsletters…really need to get my inbox sorted out.

Hi Lorraine. Maybe unroll.me would be a help. I use it for my yahoo account and puts all my subscription in one folder. Also, it groups all those pesty junk messages that make it to my inbox and provide an option to unsubscribe in one location.
